Joe Paquet
Flowers Above the Cove
16" x 20" oil
$5,500
Joseph Paquet, while pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts in New York, had the good fortune of finding a mentor in John Foote who opened his eyes to the joys of drawing the human figure. After graduating, Joe met another major influence in his life, John Osborne, who was uniquely gifted in producing convincing landscape paintings from memory. Osborne believed a landscape painting should begin on location, but that its poetic essence should be completed in the solitude of the artist’s studio. Paquet experienced a demanding and rewarding apprenticeship, in which he learned to fuse field studies with the image he could see in his mind’s eye. To summarize this experience, he explains, “The intellectual process became married to the intuitive. Paint what you know well as what you see.” He goes on to expand the possibilities, “If I have the need or desire to move a mountain, add a figure or change the course of a river, I can do so. I am no longer shackled to nature. Now, I am painting my picture.” Paquet teaches and paints at Hurinenko and Paquet Studio in St. Paul, Minnesota. http://www.joepaquet.com/
Cynthia Britain
Indigo Shadows
11" x 14" oil
$1,250.00
The things that turn me on are atmosphere and light,” reveals Laguna Beach Impressionist Cynthia Britain. Take one look around the artist’s studio on Laguna Canyon Road and find abundant clues that Britain spends little time with brush in hand in this cloistered environment. As one of Orange County’s most renowned en plein air (French for “in the open air”) painters, Britain takes her inspiration from the play of light and shadows in nature’s grand amphitheater, where she’s been capturing the luminous magic of rolling vineyards, pastoral villages and windswept coasts for more than a decade.

Cynthia Britain is one of the founding and Signature members of The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, Artist Member of the California Art Club and Oil Painters of America, and a Contributing Artist Member of the American Women Artists. Britain has studied with Ted Goerschner, Kevin MacPherson, and Kim English. http://www.cynthiabritain.com

$1,800.00
Daniel Aldana is an early career artist who took an interesting path toward his current position in the art world. At Yale, between his medical studies, he took art classes to further his creative education, and during his internship he painted whenever he had a chance. After specializing in pediatrics at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital for many years he took a plein air painting class and was immediately hooked. That summer he began to paint full time. He has participated in several juried art festivals and art competitions, and has been honored with many prizes and awards. Southwest Art magazine selected him as an artist to watch in December 2007. http://www.danielaldana.com/
Michael Logan
Crystal Cove Past
24" x 36" oil
$6,500
Michael Logan has been painting for over forty years…painting is his passion! At a young age he found a love for drawing and would soon take his first painting lesson. He studied the classics and French Impressionism. His move to a small seaside town in Southern California, at age 18, would shape his life as an oil painter. Laguna Beach was a flourishing art colony at the time. The mild climate and spectacular scenery had attracted the likes of William Wendt, Granville Redmond and Edgar Payne. These and other important artists soon became known in the art world as the Southern California Impressionists, painting in the plein air style. It was these artists and this outdoor style of painting that would have the greatest influence on him.

Michael has exhibited in numerous galleries and museums and his collectors span the U.S. and abroad. His present and past memberships include Oil Painters of America, California Art Club, Plein Air Painters of America and Laguna Plein Air Painting Association. Michael currently resides in Southern California with his wife of fifteen years, a black cocker spaniel and two Himalayans. He can often be spotted on location sporting a Panama hat, easel in place, palette in hand, canvas wet with paint. Michael Logan is truly in his element!
