Reiger Begonia
|
With proper care, you can get three months of bloom from your Reiger Begonia.
Then, when your plant begins to look poorly, stop watering for seven days. Cut
the plant back to 3 or 4 leaf nodes (see diagram).
Withhold water for five or more days. Then water slowly and thoroughly to
completely saturate the plant. Soon you will see sprouts from around the base of
the plant, and then once again your Reiger will bloom.
Congratulations! If you got a second bloom cycle, try for a third using the same technique. You have only to
win more beautiful blooms.

1. Air Circulation
Make sure your Begonia doesn't get too warm and that it gets plenty of air
circulation. DO NOT PLACE IN A CLOSED AREA.
|
2. Water
Reiger Begonias do not like to be over watered. Water once a week, slowly
and deeply. DO NOT WATER OVERHEAD. Reiger Begonias develop powdery
mildew on their leaves if watered from overhead or if they are placed in an area
where water will get on their leaves.

3. Fertilizer
Fertilize every two weeks with Roger's Flower Food at half strength.
8/98.
