any tips on a plumeria that never blooms? three others in my yard bloom with no problem. they’re all in the same area. but my first plumeria never blooms – grows like crazy but no flowers.
Hi Laura,
Plumerias may not bloom for several reasons. First of all, some varieties are just not as free-blooming as others. You didn’t say if all four that you have are all the same or different from each other. Secondly, plants growing with less sun may not bloom as heavily. You say all are growing in the same area, so I assume they are all getting the same amount of sun. Thirdly, if plumerias are growing very vigorously, it may be because they are getting ample water (meaning too much) or too much fertilizer, especially too much nitrogen. Sometimes when the plants are slightly stressed, meaning less water and less fertilizer, they will bloom more freely. If you are fertilizing, use a low nitrogen fertizizer. These are commonly sold as “bud and bloom boosters”.
