Chef Mila’s Apple Oatmeal Crisp & Gluten-Free Apple Oatmeal Crisp

Mila’s Apple Oatmeal Crisp | Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, mix the oats, sugar, cinnamon , white flour and liquefied coconut oil. In a small pan add butter and brown sugar and let it melt over medium heat. Add diced apples and sauté until apples are tender. Remove from the heat, add brandy and cook for another minute.

Spray a 9×9 inch or similar size baking dish with non-stick vegetable oil spray (like Canola or Pam). Add half of the mixture and press well. Add the sautéed apples on top of the mixture. Spread jam on top the apples and finish adding the rest of the oat mixture.  Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream or Trader Joe’s delicious 0% Fat Vanilla Frozen Greek Yogurt.

Total time: 45-50 minutes
Serves: 8-10

 

Ingredients:

1 cup oatmeal
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 stick butter (melted)
3 diced Gala apples
4 oz. Earth and Vine Apricot Pineapple Tangerine Jam

Apple filling ingredients:

1 teaspoon butter or coconut oil (to sauté the apples)
1/4 cup brown sugar to cook the apple in
2 tablespoons brandy (optional)

1/2 cup Sweet Tree or other brand Coconut Palm Sugar (Blonde)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup Trader Joe’s Organic Virgin Coconut oil (warm it a touch if it has solidified)
1/2 cup Arrowhead Mills or comparable brand brown rice flour
3 Gala apples diced into similar-sized cubes
4 oz.  Earth &Vine Apricot Pineapple Tangerine Jam

Apple filling ingredients:

1 teaspoon butter or coconut oil (to sauté the apples)
1 tablespoon coconut sugar
2 tablespoons brandy (optional)
