Daniel Aldana is an early career artist who took an interesting path toward his current position in the art world. While in college he studied art, but unlike many artists, he attended medical school upon graduation. At Yale, between his medical studies, he took art classes to further his creative education, and during his internship he painted whenever he had a chance. After specializing in pediatrics at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital for many years he took a plein air painting class and was immediately hooked. That summer he began to paint full time. Painting and spending time in nature are Cynthia Britain’s favorite activities. It is the combination of these two passions that have resulted in her becoming an award winning plein air painter. 'I can't imagine a more gratifying experience than painting outdoors while listening to the birds sing and feeling the sun on my face. She majoring in fine art at Fullerton College, where she was introduced to Impressionist painters and continued her education at UCLA and the Putney College of Art in England. Capturing the California landscape holds a special place in her heart because, 'Future generations will not have the experience of this quickly disappearing natural landscape. I aspire to create a permanent repository of these unique places in my paintings. A third generation artist, Jesse Powell grew up in Los Angeles admiring and observing his artist father at work. Powell credits the education that he received at the King Erekle School of the Arts in The Republic of Georgia as having the most influence on his traditional, impressionist style and his love for plein air work. He is inspired by California Impressionists Guy Rose, Edgar Payne and William Wendt and by the great works of early American and Russian Impressionists. He predominantly paints en plein air, and appreciates the challenge of the ever-changing light and the shapes of the natural Southern California and Southwestern terrains. Hall says, “In my early childhood, I remember weeks spent at outdoor art shows and an occasional museum visit or two. My mother was a professional artist, something I knew I never wanted to be. But then in my early 30’s I started to play with paints again and something clicked.” Robin is now nationally recognized for her plein air artwork, and is included in many prestigious plein air events throughout the country. Daniel Aldana is an early career artist who took an interesting path toward his current position in the art world. While in college he studied art, but unlike many artists, he attended medical school upon graduation. At Yale, between his medical studies, he took art classes to further his creative education, and during his internship he painted whenever he had a chance. After specializing in pediatrics at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital for many years he took a plein air painting class and was immediately hooked. That summer he began to paint full time. He has participated in several juried art festivals and art competitions, and has been honored with many prizes and awards. A graduate of Art Center College of Design, Damm studied with Sergei Bongart, noted Russian painter, and has received many top awards, but his greatest honor was meeting and completing a commissioned portrait of President Ronald Reagan. Damm is a Signature Member and sits on the board of the California Art Club. He is also a Signature Member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and a member of the American Pastel Society.
