Our now famous monthly series for avid gardening enthusiasts! Each month is a lively discussion of monthly garden chores, pitfalls and opportunities. The goal of the series is for your garden to thrive and for your gardening experiences to be equally satisfying.  You will learn practical information, specifically customized to our specific local soils, climate and plant palette. This series is aimed at the passionate or serious gardener who needs more than recycled book knowledge.  Extensive, detailed instructional literature is distributed to the attendees each month.  Join other great gardeners at this fast paced, honest and informative presentation. We think you will agree, this is one of the best gardening programs in southern California.

Potting with Succulents – Workshop Hosted by Rex Yarwood

Join Roger’s Gardens plant buyer, Rex Yarwood, as he shares his passion for succulents in this educational workshop. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn hands on from an avid horticulturist, the techniques of planting and caring for a wide variety of succulents.  Guests will have the opportunity to create their own succulent arrangements and take them home.{$10 fee plus materials}

Tomato Tasting with Steve Goto

 

We love homegrown tomatoes. Tomato grower, Steve Goto will bring over 80 varieties of tomatoes for you to sample, during our 5th Annual Tomato Tasting.  Taste as many as you like, then rate each variety .  We use your taste results to help us choose next year’s tomato selection.  Steve Goto will also prepare his very tasty salsa for all to enjoy, and be readily available to discuss a myriad of tomato topics.  You don’t want to miss this event!

Cooking with Tomatoes with Chef Diane Weber

 

We all know what tomatoes look like, what they taste like, and how to cut them up to dress a salad…but Chef Diane Weber knows much more!  With the assistance of her students from the  Culinary Art Institute, Chef Weber will explore more interesting uses of a variety of tomatoes.  Take this opportunity to learn what a wonderful resource home grown tomatoes can be in you kitchen.  Guest will sample dishes.

Plumerias for So. California – Curtis Hayes & George Crouchet

 

Bring back memories of past tropical vacations by planting plumerias in your garden. Plumerias have been growing in California for over 50 years. When they were planted, little was known about their care.  Today one can propagate plumeria from seed, stem cutting or by grafting.  George Crouchet of the Orange County Plumeria Society will demonstrate each of these techniques as well as discuss the care of plumerias in So California's many varied climates. The care of plumerias in So California's varied climates will also be discussed.

Bearded Iris – John Schoustra

 

Join John Schoustra of Greenwood Farms, Southern California’s primary source of bearded iris rhizomes, as he discusses the latest developments in iris hybridization as well as how to grow and care for them in your garden. Since these beauties can tend to be a bit intimidating, John will demystify every aspect of the bearded iris, from planting to blooming.

As our preferred customer we invite you to experience “The Witching Hour”.  Preview and shop our Halloween tricks and treats before we open to the public. Meet folk artists Bethany Lowe and Dee Foust, and artist and ornament designer Larry Fraga. Each artist will be available to introduce their new bewitching creations as well as sign any Halloween treasures purchased during the event.

Radko Wreath Making Workshop

Roger’s Gardens’ experts will host two interactive workshops leading you in creating your own sparkling holiday wreath. The workshop fee is $95.00 per guest, and includes a 24” green wreath, decorative supplies, and several broken or cracked Radko ornaments to be adhered to the wreath.  Additional Radko ornaments of your choice may be purchased the day of the event. {Space is very limited and reservations are required.
