About This Experience

Join Ken Khachigian, President Ronald Reagan’s Chief Speechwriter, Senior Political Advisor and veteran of nine presidential campaigns, as he debuts his gripping memoir Behind Closed Doors: In the Room with Reagan & Nixon. As trusted advisor, speechwriter and political strategist to those presidential legends Mr. Khachigian has an insider’s view of history-making moments. His long-awaited memoir shares private, unheard accounts from working alongside these twentieth century giants as they shaped postwar America in the Oval Office, at Camp David, and the Western White House. As Richard Nixon’s close political and strategic confidant, Khachigian also offers extraordinary new insights into the former president’s post-Watergate emergence.

Known as the “Lion of California GOP Politics,” and as the Republican party’s premier strategist, Ken Khachigian guided successful statewide campaigns for governor, senator and attorney general. As Reagan’s favorite speechwriter, he gave shape to his 1980 election victory and accompanied the President on Air Force One across America for 1984’s historic 49-state landslide. Ken helped write President Reagan’s First Inaugural Address, Joint Congressional Session Appearances, and many other memorable addresses, including his remarks at Bergen Belsen in May, 1985 – called Reagan’s “greatest speech.”

Mr. Khachigian will sign copies following the book talk. Behind Closed Doors will be available for pre-order on our online boutique or purchased in-store on the day of the signing.
