Monarch butterflies are in decline – and gardeners can play a critical role in their recovery. Monarch’s feed exclusively on milkweed plants. But simply planting milkweeds may not be enough. Is it the correct milkweed and is it being grown properly? Is yours and you neighbor’s garden free of noenicitinoid insecticides – a potential contributor to their decline nation-wide? This program is about helping our Monarch butterflies recover, and specifically the vital role that gardens play in this recovery. Our actions can make a big difference. Join Rogers Gardens, General Manager, Ron Vanderhoff, and Expert Horticulturist and self-proclaimed Naturalist, James Maxwell, in our classroom for a fully illustrated program. Ron Vanderhoff is an Orange County horticulture leader, native plant expert and conservation ecologist. He is a contributing author to The Butterflies of Orange County and the Wildflowers of Orange County and Santa Ana Mountains.
