Vergie Lightfoot

Vergie Lightfoot

Vergie Lightfoot Vergie Lightfoot’s original designs include a menagerie of playful and scary cats, a crop of bemused, and variegated pumpkins.

Each unique piece receives multiple phases of work from pattern making, sewing and stuffing, to painting and finishing. With up to 18 layers of paint, it takes countless hours to give each piece its own unique expression.

Vergie creates organically without sketching any ideas. She prefers to create in a clean, well - organized space with only the materials she needs. She works on a rotation, leap frogging each step until piece is complete. She uses her a custom signature technique using paper clay, different sized brushes and a favorite metal tool.

Her pieces are sculpted over an armature form. Once the sculpting has been completed, she then puts a coat of glue on it, then her own formula crackle paint, and lastly, she applies her own formula of wax type finish.

She works on a rotation, leap frogging each step until the piece is complete. These unique pieces evolve organically as they reveal what they are meant to be, except for commission work.
