Seed from Mr. Parsons are then grown locally and evaluated for fragrance, flower size, stem length, and abundance of bloom by local expert horticulturist, Mr. Steve Hampson.
Roger Parsons
Roger Parsons is a professional horticulturist who has been growing Sweet Peas since 1985. Since 1993, he has been custodian of a National Collection Sweet Peas. Roger has won coveted Gold Awards for his Sweet Peas at National Sweet Pea Society exhibitions. In March 2012 and has been awarded the prestigious Henry Eckford Gold Memorial Medal, the highest honor presented by the National Sweet Pea Society.
Roger is well known among sweet enthusiasts. He has been both past Chairman and President of the National Sweet Pea Society, Chairman of the Royal Horticultural Society Joint Trials Committee, author of “Sweet Peas: an Essential Guide”.
Steve Hampson
Steve Hampson was a long-time horticulturalist at Roger’s Gardens, as a plant buyer, educator and senior horticulturist. He is well known in horticultural circles both locally and nationally. He has served as a director of the National Daffodil Society, a Gold Medal and Best-of-Show winner at national competitions, a leading orchid authority, and highly respected plantsman. Steve has been cultivating and trialing sweet peas in Orange County for nearly two decades and maintains relationships with Mr. Parsons and other sweet pea breeders around the world.
