SOIL RECIPES
Good healthy soil is essential for plants because it provides them with the necessary nutrients, water, and support they need to grow strong and healthy. Soil acts as a storehouse for nutrients that plants need to grow, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, as well as trace minerals like calcium and magnesium. Without these nutrients, plants can become stunted, weak, and more susceptible to pests and diseases.
Healthy soil also provides adequate water retention and drainage, allowing plants to absorb water when they need it and preventing waterlogging and root rot. Additionally, good soil structure allows roots to penetrate easily, which helps with nutrient absorption and supports the plant's overall growth.

Lasagna Method Layering
STEP ONE
Biology – Choose one for this crop season
• John and Bob’s Maximize – 8 lbs covers 1000 or use 11/2 cup per plant, once a crop.
• Worm Gro (Worm Casting) – Add 1/4 cup and layer over entire bed.
• Malibu Compost – Add 1/2 to 1 inch layer over entire bed.
STEP TWO
Soil Conditioner
• John and Bob’s Optimize – 3 lbs covers 1000 sq ft or a palm full per plant, once this crop season.
STEP THREE
Fertilizer
• John and Bob’s Nourish Bio Soil – 6 lbs covers 1000 sq ft or add 11/2 cups per plant, every six months.
• Jong’s Grow Better – Add 1 to 11/2 cups per plant, every month.
• Down To Earth (All Purpose) – Apply once every month. 11/2 cups per plant.
STEP FOUR
Top Cover – Choose one for this crop season
• Roger’s Gardens Premium Planting Mix – Add a 1” to 3” layer over the entire bed.
• Garden and Bloom Planting Mix – Add a 1” to 3” layer over the entire bed.
• Garden and Bloom Harvest Supreme – Add a 1” to 3” layer over the entire bed.

New Soil Tips
• Add potting soil 60% to the top of container.
• Add the first three amendments. (No need to mix).
• Add remaining soil to fill container to about an inch below the lip.

• Remove old plant or plants.
• Add the first three amendments (No need to mix).
• Add potting soil to fill soil level to one inch below the lip of the container.
