How to get your product
The Calamondin is a natural hybrid of a mandarin orange and a kumquat, known as a miniature orange. It grows up to 12-14 feet tall (semi-dwarfs about 1/2 to 2/3 that size), with an upright habit, but can be easily maintained at a smaller size with pruning, making it suitable for containers. It produces fragrant flowers and small, tangerine-like fruit that is eaten whole, including the peel, and is very tart, with a flavor often described as a cross between a mandarin and a kumquat. The whole fruit is edible, used in marmalades, juicing, cooking, and baking. Calamondin is self-fertile, producing fruit with a single tree, but more trees can increase harvests. It flowers and fruits at any time, with fruit appearing alongside blossoms, with the most abundant harvest between November and early summer, and the sweetest fruit appearing near the end of the season. Calamondin is hardier than many citrus varieties, tolerating temperatures down to 20¡F.
