Basil 'Wild Magic', scientifically known as *Ocimum basilicum* 'Wild Magic', is a striking cultivar from the Herbalea series prized for its ornamental and edible qualities. This variety features deep green leaves with dramatic purple-black margins and nearly black new growth, creating a vibrant contrast. It grows to a compact size of about 18-24 inches in height and 12-24 inches in spread, forming a bushy, attractive plant topped with upright violet to deep purple blooms that attract pollinators like bees.
Best suited to USDA hardiness zones 9b-11 (often grown as an annual in cooler climates but noted for better cold tolerance than many basils), 'Wild Magic' thrives in full sun with well-drained soil.
