How to get your product
Catnip (Nepeta cataria), also known as catmint, is a perennial herb in the mint family (Lamiaceae), native to Eurasia but widely naturalized elsewhere. It grows 2–3 feet tall with square stems, heart-shaped, toothed grayish-green leaves that are fuzzy underneath, and spikes of small tubular flowers—typically white or lavender with purple spots—blooming from late spring through fall. The plant's distinctive feature is nepetalactone, a volatile oil in its leaves and stems that triggers euphoric, playful behavior in about two-thirds of cats, leading to rolling, rubbing, purring, or zooming around.
Humans use catnip differently: dried leaves make a calming herbal tea for relaxation, mild anxiety, insomnia, digestive issues like cramps or gas, or as a soothing remedy for colds and fevers in traditional folk medicine. It also serves as a natural insect repellent due to nepetalactone. While catnip excites felines, it often promotes calm in people.
