How to get your product
Lavender 'Dutch Grosso' (Lavandula x intermedia 'Grosso'), often called Grosso Lavandin or Dutch Grosso, is a vigorous hybrid lavender (cross of English and spike lavenders) renowned as one of the most widely cultivated varieties worldwide. This evergreen perennial forms bushy, mounded plants 24–36 inches tall and wide, with silvery-gray-green, narrow foliage and exceptionally long, plump spikes of deep violet-blue to rich purple flowers up to 6 inches long. Blooming mid-to-late summer (often later than English types), it boasts one of the strongest, camphoraceous yet sweet fragrances, high essential oil yield, and excellent disease resistance. Hardy in zones 5–9, it thrives in full sun, well-drained soil, and tolerates heat and drought once established.
Prized commercially for perfumery and aromatherapy, 'Dutch Grosso' essential oil offers calming, stress-relieving properties. Culinary uses include sparingly flavoring desserts, teas, vinegars, jellies, herb blends, savory dishes (like roasted meats or vegetables), and cocktails for its bold floral notes. Dried flowers excel in sachets, potpourri, wreaths, and bouquets; fresh stems attract pollinators in gardens. Its intense scent enhances soaps, lotions, and insect-repelling applications.
