Product Details

Lavender 'English Dwarf Hidcote' (Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote'), often called Hidcote or Hidcote Blue, is a classic compact English lavender cultivar developed in the early 20th century at Hidcote Manor Garden in England. This hardy perennial forms neat, bushy mounds typically 12–24 inches tall and wide, with silvery-gray-green, narrow, aromatic foliage and dense spikes of deep violet-blue to rich purple flowers blooming from late spring through summer. Highly fragrant with a sweet, classic lavender scent, it's one of the darkest-flowered varieties, evergreen in mild climates, deer-resistant, and thrives in full sun with well-drained soil, making it ideal for borders, edging, containers, or low hedges.

This versatile lavender excels in culinary, medicinal, and aromatic uses. Fresh or dried flowers flavor teas for relaxation and digestion, desserts like shortbread, crème brûlée, jams, or infused sugars/honeys; sparingly add to savory dishes for floral notes. Craft potpourri, sachets, dream pillows, soaps, oils, or bath products for calming, anti-inflammatory benefits. Attract pollinators in gardens while providing long-lasting dried arrangements or herbal wreaths. Fresh maximizes aroma; drying preserves for year-round enjoyment.
