How to get your product
Marjoram (Origanum majorana), commonly known as sweet marjoram or knotted marjoram, is a bushy, aromatic perennial herb in the mint family (Lamiaceae), native to the Mediterranean region, Cyprus, and western Asia. Often grown as an annual in cooler climates due to frost sensitivity, it forms compact plants 12–24 inches tall with square stems, small ovate gray-green leaves, and tiny white to pale pink flowers in summer clusters. The leaves offer a warm, sweet, pine-citrus aroma with mild peppery, slightly bitter notes—gentler and sweeter than its close relative oregano. Thriving in full sun, well-drained soil, and dry conditions, it's easy to cultivate in gardens, pots, or indoors.
This versatile herb enhances Mediterranean, European, and Middle Eastern cuisines, imparting delicate flavor to soups, stews, sauces, salad dressings, roasted meats (especially lamb, poultry, and sausages), vegetables, eggs, stuffings, and herbal teas. It's a key component in blends like herbes de Provence and Italian seasoning, and pairs well with tomatoes, garlic, and cheeses. Fresh leaves add subtle brightness; dried intensifies the taste for year-round use. Medicinally, marjoram supports digestion, eases cramps, and offers anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits in teas or oils.
