Product Details

Mint 'Apple' (Mentha suaveolens 'Apple', commonly known as Apple Mint or Woolly Mint) is a vigorous, rhizomatous perennial herb native to southern and western Europe. This hardy plant (zones 5–9) forms upright, bushy growth reaching 18–36 inches tall, with rounded, softly hairy (woolly) light-green leaves up to 2 inches long that emit a delightful fruity, apple-like fragrance blended with mild mint notes. It produces dense spikes of small white or pinkish flowers in late summer. Easy to grow in moist, well-drained soil with full sun to partial shade, it's highly productive but spreads aggressively via rhizomes, so containment in pots is recommended to prevent invasiveness.

This mildly flavored mint excels in culinary and refreshing applications, where its subtle apple essence adds a sweet, fruity twist without overpowering pungency. Use fresh leaves in teas (hot or iced), fruit salads, desserts, mojitos, lemonades, or infused waters; bruise them for pitchers of summer drinks. It shines in apple mint jelly, sauces for lamb/poultry/seafood, chutneys, dressings, or garnishes for vegetables and grains. Dried leaves make soothing herbal tea for digestion or headaches. Fresh maximizes its aromatic charm, though it dries or freezes well for year-round use.
