How to get your product
Sage 'Pineapple', scientifically known as *Salvia elegans* 'Pineapple', is a vibrant perennial herb in the mint family (Lamiaceae), native to Mexico and Guatemala. This upright, clump-forming plant grows 3–5 feet tall with square stems, bright green lance-shaped leaves that release a delightful pineapple fragrance when crushed, and striking tubular scarlet-red flowers that bloom profusely in late summer to fall. Hardy in USDA zones 8–11, it thrives in full sun with well-drained soil and attracts hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies, making it a favorite in pollinator gardens, borders, or containers.
The leaves and edible flowers offer versatile culinary and medicinal uses. Fresh leaves add a fruity, pineapple-like flavor to teas, salads, fruit dishes, jellies, or garnishes, while flowers enhance desserts and drinks with their sweet, minty notes. Traditionally used in herbal remedies, pineapple sage tea calms nerves, aids digestion, reduces anxiety, and supports mild antidepressant effects, thanks to its antioxidant properties. In warmer climates like southern California, it grows easily as a low-maintenance, fragrant addition to herb gardens.
