Product Details

The Calabrian pepper, scientifically known as *Capsicum annuum*, is a vibrant chili plant native to the Calabria region in southern Italy. It thrives in the warm Mediterranean climate with clay-rich soils, producing bushy plants that yield small, conical fruits typically 1 to 2 inches long. These peppers ripen to a rich red color and are a staple of Italian agriculture, often grown in clusters during late summer harvests.

With a medium spice level of 25,000 to 40,000 Scoville Heat Units, the Calabrian pepper delivers a balanced, fruity heat—hotter than a jalapeño but milder than many superhots. It is widely used in Italian cuisine for pasta sauces, pizzas, olive oil infusions, and spreads, adding smoky, aromatic flavor without overwhelming intensity. Fresh, dried, or preserved forms enhance meats, vegetables, and antipasti.
