How to get your product
The Takara Shishito pepper is a hybrid variety of the popular Japanese shishito pepper, belonging to the species *Capsicum annuum*. Originating from East Asia with strong Japanese heritage, this compact plant features a spreading habit, short internodes, and prolific branching, typically growing about 2 feet tall. It produces early, uniform, slender fruits around 3 to 3.5 inches long and 1 inch wide, harvested when light green and wrinkled before ripening to red.
With a mild spice level of roughly 50-200 Scoville Heat Units (occasionally up to 500), most pods offer a rich, slightly sweet flavor while about 10% may carry a gentle kick. Thin-walled and versatile, Takara Shishitos excel when blistered in a hot pan with oil and salt as an appetizer, stir-fried, grilled, or used in tempura and Asian dishes for their smoky sweetness.
