Basil 'Nufar' is a popular hybrid variety of sweet basil, known scientifically as *Ocimum basilicum* 'Nufar'. It stands out as the first F1 hybrid basil resistant to fusarium wilt, a common soil-borne disease that affects many basil plants. This Genovese-type basil features large, vibrant dark green leaves with a rich, sweet, and potent flavor, making it highly productive throughout the summer. The plant typically grows to a compact size of 16–24 inches tall with a spread of 12–18 inches, forming bushy, uniform growth ideal for gardens or containers.
'Nufar' thrives in warm conditions and is suited to USDA hardiness zones 2–11 as an annual, though it prefers tropical or subtropical climates for perennial-like performance in zones 10–11. It requires full sun, well-draining soil, and regular watering.
